Glory to Jesus Christ!
Dear parishioners and friends,
As we begin a new school year and new Ecclesiastical Year, we also begin and continue various programs at St. Basil’s to deepen our faith and to understand the Mystery of God among us.
SUNDAY EASTERN CHRISTIAN FORMATION-ECF
Every month on the Second Sunday of the month, we will have our supplemental catechetical program. Why is it “supplemental”? Because the primary religious educators of our children are you their parents. What we will do at Church once a month is in addition to that which you are already doing at home!
We recommend using the God With Us Publication books. God With Us is the publishing arm of the Eastern Catholic bishops of the US. God With Us has many resources for children as well as adults. St. Basil’s has a limited supply of resources and teacher books in our catechetical library (in the library /storage space in the back of the Church) for reference. You can find and order these materials (with some seasonal freebies) at:
https://shop.printtechofwpa.com/godwithus/c/1702/catechetical-series
The Sunday Eastern Christian Formation (ECF) will take place the second Sunday of every month after the social. Parents are welcome to stay and help out. We will begin promptly at 12:30pm with an ice breaker and present themes and activities at 20 minute intervals. Lunch is included. ECF will end at 2:30pm. Since this will be once a month we ask that you do what you can to participate and if you are unable to participate, please try to obtain the lessons and activities so that you can do them with your children. Faith education is especially important for our children so that they will be familiar with the unique aspects of Eastern Christianity. Each monthly class will be focused on specific themes from that month. Please let Father Elias know if you have any questions.
BYZANTeen GROUP
High school aged youth will meet once a month on the third Saturday of the month (in November and December, it will be the 2nd Saturday because of the holidays). The teen group will focus on dialogue, sharing faith and other activities. If you have questions please contact Bethany Doyle for more information.
